I have no idea who "Taz" is, but why must you put a negative spin on things? The only reason I did not mention the ladies, is that the last time there was a closed event 4 of you turned up. I'm sure we could find space for another 4 players, regardless of their gender. If you had read my intial post correctly, you would have seen that I said the idea needs tweaking. Its far from a finished article.
And the only reason I haven't turned up to past committee meetings is I have never had anything worthwhile to say before. Some might say nothing's changed...
Hi guys, not sure what's happening there as can't see taz's post but let's not fight among ourselves... eh? The competition format Lucky suggested sounds a wonderful idea, maybe Lucky want to bring that up at our next committee meeting? The committee meeting is designed to get all affiliated leagues together and contribute their ideas to the Association, more brains work better than one, right? Lucky, you are more than welcome to come to the meeting, even nothing to say, at least you get to see what forum we have at the meeting, it really is useful, especially bring information back to your league for those who wanted to progress their pool to further levels. Have a think, the meeting is held at Lady Haig at 8pm on every Wednesday after the county matches. Let me know. My email is dominiquechiu@yahoo.co.uk . Talk soon. x
I was at the pub with Del Sim and Ed Rumsey last night and I brought up the idea of a new closed event for all Berkshire County Players: A 3-Man Team Event, just like the one they had at the last Pro Tour.
Essentially we'd draw 16 teams at random, each consisting of 3 players, one A Team, one B team and one C Team. The A team players would be the Team Captains and the B and C team players would be drawn at Random to keep things a fair as possible. It would then be a a straight race-to-5 knock-out competition with each match being played in round robin format. With 8 Tables at Chiswick 16 teams would be perfect and we were sure the tournament could be played out in a day, probably after the main season is over.
We all agreed the idea needs a bit of tweaking to get it work, but if we made it £5.00 a man, it would be a good way to raise a bit of revenue for Berkshire and give out prize money to the winners and runners-up.
As it stands myself, Del and Ed hardly know any of the current C Team players. This tournament would would help us to get to know them better and would help increase squad morale and camaraderie.
Everyone I've discussed it with so far is really up for it. What do you think?
