Mens A
Lost: 15v29
We were at a loss starting off this match missing Jimmy H, Vikas & Andy Brant from the line-up. Thanks go to Mick Worsfeld who stepped up from the B team at short notice and put in a good performance although slightly affected by A team nerves which was totally understandable. After the disappointed of last month to Surrey the guys made a great start racing off to a 4-1 lead and from there we were unlucky in places & put simply outplayed in others. No-one played badly and the score did not reflect the effort of the team to get back into the tie, at half time we were 7/15 down. James McCarthy got duck on the day was disappointing, his capability did not reflect his performance on the day. Although it was a disappointing result but all in all, it was a great effort by the lads to get us up to 15 as London continued to turn up the heat and move further away the gap became almost impossible to close. Rob, the best on the day chalking up two very well played out dishes. We will come back stronger and beat them away on the 12th Oct!!!
Outstanding Performance: Robert Uzzell, Lucky, Sefton Payne, Peter Loft and Del Sim, all won 2 out of 4.
Mens B
Lost: 19v25
The B team boys played well up to half time when we were 11-11. Last two quarters, we got smashed 7-4. Difficult day with 5 dishes for us and 4 against. Thanks to Matt Leppard (2/4) and Shaun Carter (0/2) for turning up at short notice.
Outstanding Performance: John Harling and Granville Fowle, both won 3 out of 4.
Mens C
Won: 25v19
The C continued their good form for the season and made it 3 wins out of 4 as they overturned their London rivals. At the start of the day London were only two points behind us and we were only two points behind Surrey so the whole team was made aware of just how important this game was to us. The team is gelling superbly responded as a united effort after a bit of a slow start. We lost the first quarter 6-5 but quickly kick into gear and won next quarter with 7- 4. With Berkshire holding a slender at 12v10 half time lead the game stayed tight until the C found their second wind and stepped up another gear towards the end to kill off any further challenge from the opponents. Special mention for Sukhveer Singh who was selected to make his debut and done very well coming away with 2-4
Outstanding Performance: Scott Matthew and Joey Arpino, both won 4 of 4.
Ladies
Lost: 18v26
A bit disappointed in the score as it did not reflect the closeness of the individual frames and felt that London had the luck on their side with some interesting play and ball potting, which was not played for. Two new players Tracey and Gemma fitted into the squad very well.
Outstanding Performance: Jacquie Vann won 3 out of 4. Most outstanding player of the day was newcomer Gemma Moore winning 2 out of 4, but was very close with other 2 frames.
Outstanding Performance: Ann Middleton and Jacquie Vann, both won 3 out of 4.
