Match Report: C Team Home to London 13/11/11

Berkshire C 23 London C 21

With players dropping out at short notice and others going into the B’s I put out the strongest side I could. We brought back a couple of old hands in Stuart Townsend and Andy Brant and some new blood in Suki Bassi. We won the 1st quarter 7-4 and this set us up to win the match 23 - 21. Man of the match was Stuart Townsend who won 4/4. Shot of the match was Andy Brant, snookered by 4 balls he came off three cushions to pot his black. Suki Bassi making his debut won 3/4 congrats. It’s been a hard season some highs some lows but altogether I think it bodes well for next season. I’ve used over 30 players this season and was still short last two games of the season so it just shows you that you can’t put a cap on how many players you have in a squad as sometimes it still isn’t enough. C TEAM player of the year is Rob Walsh, who going into the last match could still of won region 7 averages for the Cs. The most improved player is Chris (Scampi) Fawcett. I look forward to the new season come on the mighty BERKSHIRE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Match Report: A Team Home to London 13/11/11

Berkshire A 24 London A 20

Match Summary:

We went into the last game of the season knowing the best we could do was finish third. This would mirror what we did last season. The main stumbling block to achieving this was that we faced region 7 champions-elect and dual national champions London! I was informed (wrongly) by a member of their side that they hadn't been defeated for 2 and a half years. More close to the truth is they have maybe only been defeated twice in that period. Impressive stuff if you add 2 nationals and 2 seasons of county totalling around 34 matches. After the disappointment of last months defeat at Kent when a number of players were absent I was relatively happy with the squad at my disposal for this match. Players missing from earlier in the season included Vikas Sabharwal, Brad Robinson, Sefton Payne, Maurice Sheehan, Craig Wilson and Dylan Leary. All of the players mentioned are quality players which makes this win all the more impressive.
