Match Report Home to Sussex 16/11/08

Men A
Lost: 20v24
The team were behind from the start, managed to get to within 2 frames but slipped again at the end of the match. If we would have a full team, we would have beaten the team.
Outstanding Performance: Adam Haywood won 3 out of 4.

Men B
Won: 26v18
Good result. The Sussex B team was quite weak that allow us to take the match quite effortlessly. Good team humour & atmosphere all round. A good day all in all.
Outstanding Performance: The team.

Men C
Won: 32v12
There are quite many ladies players playing in the Sussex C team. Some new players came into our C team. The team gelled really well and play well all through the season. This match result just round the season superbly.
Outstanding Performance: Dev Chadha, Jon Ashby, Josh Bostock & Shaun Sehmi won 4 out of 4, Dean Hardesty won 2 out of 2.

Ladies
Won: 23v21
Well done to Micky for winning the match for us. We had a good time in Yarmouth, the result was buzzing through this last game of the season. All players are gearing up to a win and now we have all we deserved.
Comments from JV:
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Jenny as Captain and to Dom and Rob for the support you have given the ladies team this season. The team has come on leaps and bounds and that is due to the commitment the team members have and the want to compete. We are now a squad to contend with and compete with. I am very excited about the forthcoming season especially with the win under our belt at the end of the season. The win yesterday just topped off the season the ladies have had and deserve. We have been close a couple of times this season and just haven’t quite made it over the finish line, but yesterday was good and it left everyone feeling positive
Outstanding Performance: Everyone except DC

Match Report Away to London 12/10/08

Men A
Lost: 28v16
It was a disappointment that four to five players didn’t turn up including the captain. We brought up the B team players to do a job for the A team, they played exceptionally well. To play against the London A team, they did not miss a ball when they got to the table. Berkshire received 7 dishes in total. However, the timekeeping on the London side was unsatisfying.
Outstanding Performance: Frank Callaghan won 3 out of 4.

Men B
Lost: 34v10
A total disaster for the B team. We can never compete against London B team even with our full strength team, but losing our usual B team players to the A team didn’t help. The chance for London came first before ours and they took them well. The second quarter we did not get even one win. Gary Sefton never felt to amuse the team, every chance he gets he turn the match to fudging games and they grind out. Thanks for Ashley Dingley to help out the B team.
Outstanding Performance: Adam Haywood won 2 out of 4.

Men C
Lost: 24v20
There’s no reserve for the team on the day, due to all players were used by the B team. Josh, Dean & Trevor were very unlucky on some of their frames. We managed to give too many frames away.
Outstanding Performance: John Barry won 3 out of 4.

Ladies
Lost: 23v21
We were very unlucky to have lost the total score but all our players seemed played well. We should never have gone that far down to put Susie to play the decider as we have four chances before that to win the match. Overall, the two captains were very pleased with Berkshire’s result. Two ladies are qualified for Champion of Champions, who are Michaela & Claire. Well done to both!
Outstanding Performance: Claire Dormer 4 out of 4, Jenny Bartlett won 3 out of 4.

Cancellation of Lancashire Open

Lancashire Pool Assoc. has decided to cancel the Lancashire Open at Rileys, Blackpool for the weekend 22nd November. This is
down to 3 reasons:

1. Slow level of entries being received.
2. Rileys pulling annual sponsorship of event.
3. Rileys unable to ensure tables at Blackpool are up to a reasonable standard.

James Harness - update 2

Doctor diagnosed that James had 2 Broken Vertebra on the left inner side of his spine and a Broken Pelvis which has gone back into its original position. Both injuries can heal themselves over a period of time.

More Great news James at home

James has called to let me know that he has made remarkable recovery last night he managed to walk up to 8/10 steps on a Zimmer frame. This morning he was walking a lot more with the frame and then resting for 10 minutes. This afternoon the physio was so pleased with his progress that she got him onto crutches. James got on so well with them and as the Hospital can do no more for him they discharged him to convalesce at home. He is still in a lot of pain but can now at least move about and rest and recuperate at his own pace at home.

I will still keep you all updated with all his progress through the Berkshire website with any further news.

James is in now at home if you have any cards or trinkets you can now pass them to him at the address below.

42, Stuarts way,
Windsor,
Berkshire,

This is absolutely unbelievable progress who would of thought that from Saturday in traction to being at home on crutches five days later, that’s why he Britain’s hardest.

A Delighted

Robert
